You're not just another face in the crowd
Hello friend.
I want to ask you something gently this morning. Do you ever feel invisible? Like you’re just another face in the crowd, another number in a system, another unread message in someone’s inbox?
You’re not alone in that. Our digital world is louder and busier than ever, and it has a strange way of making us feel less seen, not more. We scroll past hundreds of lives a day and wonder if anyone is really paying attention to ours.
Here’s the truth I keep coming back to, tucked inside Isaiah 45 verse 3. God tells a pagan king named Cyrus, “I am the Lord, the God of Israel, the one who calls you by name.” Cyrus didn’t even worship him. And still, God knew his name and called him for a purpose.
That tells me something wonderful. God’s knowledge of you isn’t based on how close you feel to him right now, how well you’re performing, or how many people notice you. Your name is already on his lips.
When I arrive to lead a new corps, the first thing I try to do is learn people’s names. I probably overuse them at first. Because calling someone by name says, I see you. You matter to me.
That’s what God is saying to you today.
Say it out loud with me: I am known by God.
If you’d like to spend five quiet minutes sitting with this today, I’ve made a short devotional on it. You can watch it right here:
Grace and peace.
