You're more ready than you think

Dear friend.

Here’s a question I’ve been sitting with this week: What’s already in your hands?

Not what you wish you had. Not what you’re hoping to develop one day. What’s there right now - the skill, the experience, the quiet gift you perhaps don’t think much of?

Jesus tells a parable about a servant who doesn’t wait for the perfect conditions. He doesn’t hold back until everything lines up. He serves faithfully, right where he is, with what he has. And the master comes home and calls him good and faithful.

That phrase has been stopping me in my tracks.

Because I think a lot of us are waiting. Waiting to feel more confident. Waiting for the right moment. Waiting for someone to officially tell us we’re good enough. And all the while, the gifts God has placed in our hands stay quietly gathering dust.

I see the opposite of that in the people I serve alongside every day - folk who offer a few hours, a warm meal, a prayer prayed quietly in someone’s corner. They don’t serve because they have everything sorted. They serve because they’ve decided to be willing.

And through them, something of God’s kingdom breaks in.

You don’t need to be perfect. You just need to show up.
