You were never meant to hold it forever
Can I ask you something gentle today?
Have you ever spent a long time building something - a friendship, a team, a community, a project at work - and then had to walk away from it? Maybe you are a teacher who pours yourself into a class for a whole year, and then the last day of term comes and off they go. Or maybe you have served a community week after week, and now someone else is stepping in to carry it forward.
And somewhere inside, you wonder: will they look after it the way I did?
That is such a human feeling. And today’s devotional has a word of good news waiting right inside it.
In John chapter 4, Jesus tells his disciples something that changes everything about how we think about the work we do. He says, you are harvesting where you did not plant. Others did the work before you arrived.
Which means? None of us started from nothing. And when we hand something on, we are not walking away. We are completing our part.
There is a prayer in today’s video that I think might help if you are carrying something you are not sure how to release. It is only five minutes, and it might be exactly what you need today.
