Why You Keep Repeating the Same Mistakes (And How to Stop)
Dear friend.
Can I be honest with you? I know what it feels like to try and fail at the same thing, over and over. A habit you can’t shake. A thought you can’t shut out. A choice you keep making even though you know better.
I used to think the answer was more effort. Try harder. Want it more. But that’s not how change actually works, is it? We’ve all had the fresh start that didn’t last, the promise to ourselves that quietly slipped.
This week I’ve been sitting with the story of David - a man who had real power, real gifts, and real failures. He struggled with pride. He struggled with secret sin. He hesitated when he should have acted. And more than once, he stayed silent when he should have spoken up. Sound familiar?
Here’s what struck me most. David’s strength never came from getting it right. It came from getting back up. Every time he turned back, God met him there.
That’s the whole series, really. Not “try harder,” but “turn back.” Not perfection, but persistence. Not white-knuckle willpower, but a strength that isn’t ours to begin with.
If there’s a habit, a secret, or a fear you’ve been carrying quietly, I’d love for you to join me this week. We’re taking it one day at a time, one honest question at a time.
You can catch the full series on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLBdj34ZcdVvY. I think you’ll find more of yourself in it than you expect.
With hope.
Rob
