When your thoughts won't slow down
Hello friend.
I wonder what’s been filling your mind this week. Maybe it’s a sharp word someone said. Maybe it’s a worry you’ve carried far too long. Or maybe it’s a quiet fear about what lies ahead.
Thoughts can spiral fast, can’t they? And when they do, it’s easy to feel stuck, even overwhelmed.
Here’s something I keep coming back to: peace doesn’t begin in the body. It begins in the mind. That’s why the Bible speaks so directly to what we think about. Paul tells us to fix our thoughts on what is true and lovely and admirable (Philippians 4:8). The writer of Hebrews points us to Jesus, who endured real hostility and didn’t give up (Hebrews 12:3).
I want to be honest with you. A short devotional won’t fix depression, anxiety, or grief. I’ve sat with too many people quietly fighting those battles to pretend otherwise. But I have seen something shift when a person opens their Bible and whispers the name of Jesus. Not always overnight. Not with louder prayers, but with quieter trust.
So today, when your thoughts start racing, try this. Don’t zone out. Don’t scroll endlessly. Instead, name the thought and bring it to Jesus. He’s been there, and he’s still here.
I’ve shared more in this week’s 5-minute devotional. I’d love for you to watch it whenever you have a quiet moment.
