When Your Strength Runs Out
I don’t know what you’re carrying today. Maybe it’s a habit you keep falling back into. Maybe it’s pride you can’t quite let go of, or a fear that won’t loosen its grip. Whatever it is, I want you to know something: you’re not meant to fight it alone, and you’re certainly not meant to fight it in your own strength.
David knew this better than most. He was brave, gifted, and deeply loved by God - and he was also deeply flawed. He gave in to lust. He let pride take over. He failed to do what was right when it mattered most. If we’d made the same mess David did, we might expect God to walk away.
But God stayed. Not because David earned it, but because David kept turning back to him. He confessed. He humbled himself. He stopped pretending he had it all together - and that’s exactly when things began to change.
Here’s the truth I keep coming back to: our strength always runs out. Our willpower fades. Our best plans fall apart. But God doesn’t run out. His power doesn’t fade. And it shows up most clearly not when we’re strong, but when we finally admit we’re not.
So here’s my question for you today - where do you need to stop striving and start leaning on God instead? Not hiding your weakness, but bringing it into the light and asking for his strength in its place.
If that’s something you’re wrestling with, I made a short devotional on this today - it takes five minutes, and I think it might meet you exactly where you are. Watch it here -
