When the storm won't stop - and what to do about it
I want to ask you something personal.
Is there something in your life right now that feels out of control? A situation you didn’t choose, a season that won’t seem to end, or a decision you’re circling but can’t quite bring yourself to make?
Most of us know that feeling. The ground shifts under our feet, and we’re left wondering what on earth we do next.
This week on Battle Drill Daily Devotional, I’m exploring one of the most honest and human stories in the whole of the Bible. It’s the moment the disciple Peter climbs out of a boat - in the middle of a storm, in the middle of the night - and walks toward Jesus on the water.
It doesn’t go perfectly. He sinks. Most of us would.
But what happens next is the part I keep coming back to. Jesus reaches out immediately. Not once Peter has apologised. Not once he’s got his act together. Immediately.
That’s the God this series is about. Not a distant deity who demands perfection before he’ll help. But someone who reaches for us in the sinking.
Over seven short videos, we’re going to look at what it actually means to trust - not as a feeling, but as a daily choice. We’ll think about fear, boldness, failure, and the quiet courage it takes to keep going.
You don’t need to be religious to find something useful here. You just need to be human.
