When clever isn't enough
Dear friend.
Can I ask you something? When did you last feel truly at peace - not because everything was going well, but because you knew what you were doing and why?
It’s a surprisingly rare feeling. Most of us are managing more than we’re thriving. We have access to more advice, more information, and more opinions than any generation in history - and yet wisdom still feels elusive.
This week on Battle Drill Daily Devotional, I’ve been exploring Proverbs 3. It’s an ancient text with a very modern feel. It talks about the gap between being intelligent and being wise - they’re not the same thing, and most of us know it. It talks about why kindness has to become a discipline before it becomes a character trait. About how to keep your bearings when the news is relentless and the world feels overwhelming. About generosity, loyalty, trust, and even the strange grace of being corrected by someone who loves you.
Seven short videos. Seven different angles. One underlying question: what does it actually look like to live well?
Even if you never watch a single one, I hope that question lands somewhere useful today. Wisdom isn’t about knowing more. It’s about turning in the right direction - and that’s something you can start doing right now, in whatever you’re facing.
If you’d like to explore the full series, it’s all on YouTube. I’d love for you to join us there.
