What if the thing you're holding onto is the thing holding you back?
Dear friend.
Can I be honest with you? For much of my life, I’ve been a clencher. Not just with my hands - with plans, outcomes, and the quiet, exhausting need to feel like I’m in control. Maybe you know the feeling.
This week on Battle Drill Daily Devotional, I’ve been working through something that’s been sitting with me for a while. It’s the idea of living with open hands. Not passive hands. Not giving-up hands. Just hands that aren’t white-knuckled anymore.
Over seven short daily videos, we’ve looked at some honest questions. What are you really afraid of missing? What are you holding onto that might be getting in the way? Is there a kind of treasure that actually lasts - and if so, are you investing in it? What does it mean to stay awake to what really matters, when life is so loud and so full?
We also sat with something I find genuinely moving: the image of a God who doesn’t wait for you to climb up to him. He’s already on the doorstep. His grace hasn’t quit. And he delights - genuinely delights - to give good things to his children.
You don’t need to be religious to find these reflections useful. You just need to be a human being who sometimes holds on too tight.
If any of this resonates, the full series is waiting for you on YouTube. Each video is around five minutes. You can start wherever feels right.

You don’t have to have it figured out. You just need to start with your hands a little more open.
With you in it.
Rob
