What if ordinary is exactly enough?
Have you ever had that quiet, unsettling feeling that everyone else seems to know what they’re doing with their life - and you’re just... getting through the day?
I think that’s more common than most of us let on. We look at people who seem confident, capable, and clearly in the right place, and we wonder - mostly in private - whether we’ve somehow missed our moment.
This week on Battle Drill Daily Devotional, I’ve been sitting with the story of a man called Simon Peter.
When we first meet him, he’s tired, a bit frustrated, and washing out empty nets after a completely fruitless night on the water. He’s not in a place of worship. He’s not looking for a spiritual experience. He’s just trying to get through his working day.
And that’s exactly when Jesus turns up.
Not to someone polished or prepared. Not to someone with the right background or credentials. Into the ordinary boat of an ordinary man, doing an ordinary job on an unremarkable morning.
Over the next seven days, we’re going to sit with that story together. Each day takes just one idea - something small enough to hold, and practical enough to actually use. We’ll think about what it means to find purpose right where you are. About trusting something bigger than your own common sense. About what you might need to let go of - and what you might discover when you do.
You don’t need to have it all together to start. Peter certainly didn’t.
If that sounds worth exploring this week, the full series is ready and waiting for you on YouTube. I’d love you to join me there.
