The one who came through when no one expected it
There’s a feeling most of us know, even if we’ve never put words to it.
It’s the feeling you get when someone comes through for you at your lowest point in a way you didn’t dare hope for. Not just meeting your expectations - exceeding them completely. Leaving you with that quiet exhale, like something inside you finally settles.
That feeling is at the heart of today’s devotional, and it’s rooted in one of the most important moments in the whole New Testament.
In Matthew 16, Peter looks at Jesus and says two words: You are the Messiah. Simple. But those words arrived carrying centuries of longing. And when you understand what Messiah actually meant - not just a title, but a job description with three parts - it changes the way you hear it.
The Old Testament had three kinds of anointed figures: prophets who spoke God’s word, priests who stood between God and the people, and kings who ruled and protected. Jesus, the Messiah, fulfilled all three. Perfectly.
He still does. He’s still speaking truth into your situation. Still interceding for you this very moment. Still at work in the corners of your life that feel most out of control.
So wherever you are today - whether you’re in a waiting season, carrying something tender, or just trying to get through the week - this one is for you.
The tiny step I’m inviting you to take today is just this: name one thing you’re still waiting for. Then whisper it - Jesus, you are still prophet, priest, and king. Even here.
That’s it. Not a long prayer. Just an honest acknowledgement.
You can watch the full five-minute devotional here - I’d love for you to join me:
See you there, and back here tomorrow.
