The fight no one else can see
Dear friend.
Some battles don’t make a sound.
There are no sirens and no chaos. Just a quiet tension inside your own head. Have you noticed how the fiercest fights often start where no one else can see them? They begin in the mind, long before they reach our hands or shape our words.
I know this firsthand. When my emotions get the better of me, it’s almost always because I’ve let my thoughts run wild. I haven’t paused long enough to let God speak. I haven’t given his word the space to reset me.
But when I do, something shifts. It isn’t instant, but it is real. The Spirit reminds me who I am, and more than that, whose I am.
Paul puts it simply in Philippians 4:8. He tells us to fix our thoughts on what is true and honourable and right and pure and lovely and admirable. That isn’t just good advice. For many of us, it’s spiritual survival.
So let me ask you gently today. What’s filling your mind right now? Are those thoughts leading you into life, or pulling you back towards the dark?
You don’t have to fight alone. The Holy Spirit stands ready to help you guard your heart and renew your mind. But he won’t barge in. He waits for your yes.
In today’s 5-minute devotional, I unpack all of this with a simple prayer to close.
