The door that's already open
A Battle Drill Easter Sunday Devotional
You’ll walk through dozens of doors today.
The front door. The office door. Maybe the door to a cafe where you grab five minutes of quiet before the day really kicks off. We don’t think about them. They’re just part of getting from one place to another.
But I’ve been sitting with a verse this week that has genuinely stopped me in my tracks.
In Revelation 3:8, Jesus says simply: “I have opened a door for you that no one can close.”
Not - I’ll open it once you’ve sorted yourself out. Not - knock again when you’re further along. Present tense. Already done. Standing wide open.
And here’s what gets me most about it: the door isn’t open because of anything you’ve done. You didn’t earn it. You can’t close it either - not through your mistakes, your doubts, or whatever you’re carrying around that makes you feel like you’ve used up God’s patience.
That’s grace. Plain and simple.
I’ve been thinking about the doors we walk through every day - the choices, the habits, the things we let ourselves be pulled towards - and asking an honest question: Is Jesus the one leading me through these doors?
Not as a guilt trip. Just as a gentle, daily recalibration.
Today’s five-minute devotional explores exactly this - including three simple thoughts to carry with you and one tiny holy step for the day ahead.
If you need to hear that the door is open for you - exactly as you are, right now - I think this one’s for you.
