The Delay We Don't Talk About

Hello friend.

Can I be honest with you? I’ve delayed obedience more times than I’d like to admit. God nudges, and I say “soon” - not “no,” just “not yet.” It feels harmless. Sometimes it even feels wise.

But here’s what I’ve learned: delay isn’t neutral. It plants a seed, and that seed grows roots. David knew this too. He was a warrior, a worshipper, a king - and still, when it mattered most, he paused when he should have acted. Those pauses led to real pain, for him and for others.

Psalm 119:60 puts it simply: “I will hurry, without delay, to obey your commands.” No weighing up. No drawn-out process. Just trust, and obedience, right now.

Here’s the good news, though. God is patient. His grace doesn’t run dry when we stall. He doesn’t walk away when we hesitate - his voice still calls, gently, again and again.

So today, I want to ask you what I ask myself: what’s one thing you’ve been meaning to do that you keep putting off? A message. A conversation. A step you’ve been avoiding because it feels costly.

Maybe today’s the day.
