The bravest thing you can do today
Have you ever stood outside a door and almost turned around?
Not because anything was wrong. Just because you didn’t know what was on the other side.
I’ve been thinking about that feeling a lot lately - that quiet moment of hesitation before you step into something new. A new workplace. A neighbour’s house. A corps or church you haven’t visited before.
Today’s devotional is about a man called Ananias. He’s not famous. The Bible simply calls him “a believer in Damascus.” No title. No platform. Just an ordinary, faithful person.
And God asked him to do something terrifying - to visit the man who was hunting down Christians and call him “brother.”
What strikes me most is that Ananias didn’t go because he felt brave. He went because God asked him to. He still had questions. He still had fear. But he took the step anyway.
Three things I take from his story. Trust doesn’t start with certainty - it starts with obedience. Someone has to go first. And showing up doesn’t mean having all the answers. It just means being present and willing.
Here’s your one small step for today. Think of someone in your life who is new, uncertain, or going through change. Send them a text. Say hello. Offer a cup of tea. You don’t need the perfect words. You just need to show up.
