How many tabs have you got open?
I’m not talking about your browser - though that’s probably a fair reflection too.
I mean the mental kind. The list that never quite gets finished. The worry you keep returning to. The conversation you’re replaying. The thing you’re trying not to think about.
Most of us are carrying far more than we let on. And the exhaustion isn’t just physical - it’s deeper than that. Soul-level tired, if you know what I mean.
In today’s devotional, I looked at one of Jesus’ most quietly radical invitations. Not “sort yourself out and then come to me.” Not “try harder, pray more, do better.” Just this: “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28, NLT).
What struck me most in preparing this was the specificity of it. Not “find God somewhere.” Not a vague spiritual suggestion. Come to me. Personal. Direct. Now.
I also shared the story of a Canadian artist named Josh, who nearly died three times in 21 days - and who discovered, right in the middle of the worst of it, a rest he hadn’t known before. Not because things got better. Because Jesus showed up.
Rest isn’t the absence of hard things. It’s the presence of Jesus in the hard things.
That’s worth sitting with today.
The full five-minute video is linked below - I hope it’s a moment of stillness in your day.
With you.
