Finding Fresh Water for a Thirsty Soul
Have you ever been really, really thirsty? I do not mean the sort of thirst where a quick glass of water would be nice. I mean the kind where your tongue sticks to the roof of your mouth, and you can think of nothing else.
In the Bible, we see Jesus meeting a woman at a well in the heat of the day. He was tired and hungry, just like any other person. Yet, he stopped to speak to a woman that most people in his day would have ignored or avoided.
Breaking Every Barrier Jesus broke through every wall that day. He did not care about social rules or old grudges. He simply saw a person who was thirsty for something more than water from a well. He offered her “living water” - a gift that brings a fresh start and a new life that lasts forever.
You are Enough Many of us carry a heavy feeling that we are just “not enough”. We feel like our mistakes or our past make us stagnant, like water left in a hot car. But Jesus offers this gift to everyone, right now. You do not need to clean up your act or fix all your problems first. You only need to come and drink.
Join Our Seven-Day Journey This week, I am inviting you to join me for a special seven-day devotional series called The Well of Hope. Each day, we will look at a short Bible verse and a simple thought to help you find refreshment in your daily life - whether you are at home, at work, or out in your neighbourhood.
Let us learn together how to drop our buckets into the well of life until that living water splashes cool over our faces.
“But those who drink the water I give will never be thirsty again. It becomes a fresh, bubbling spring within them, giving them eternal life.” — John 4:14 (NLT)
