Have you ever noticed how quickly feeling stuck turns into trying harder?
We promise ourselves that tomorrow we will be more disciplined, less afraid, more organised, more faithful. Yet the harder we push, the deeper the rut can seem. Soon, our struggle is no longer only about changing a habit or making a decision. It becomes a verdict on our worth.
Ephesians 1:4–5 interrupts that cycle with astonishing news: before the world began, God loved us and chose us in Christ. Before we achieved anything. Before we failed at anything. Before we had the chance to prove ourselves useful, impressive, or strong.
That changes where freedom begins.
Your worth is not tied to your work, your wins, or even your wounds. It is anchored in God’s eternal love. Real change does not begin when you finally summon enough strength. It begins when you stop pretending you have everything under control and pray, “Lord, I need you.”
That is not giving up. It is giving over. It is making room for grace to carry what your effort cannot.
And grace does not leave us passive. God’s love moves through ordinary life: a quiet prayer before the day gathers speed, a cup of tea shared with someone lonely, a food parcel given in Jesus’ name. Small acts of faith flow from one great truth: God loves you, and his love can overflow through you.
So if you feel stuck today, do not begin by fixing yourself. Begin by receiving what is already true.
You are loved. You are chosen. You are his.
Let that truth settle into your heart. Then take the next step—not to earn God’s love, but because you already have it.
Grace is enough for today.
