A different kind of Holy Week — starting Monday
Holy Week starts tomorrow. And this year, I want to take you through it differently.
Most of us know the broad outline. Palm Sunday, the Last Supper, the cross, the empty tomb. But there’s a thread running through the whole of Holy Week that I’ve been sitting with for weeks now - and I think it might open the story up in a way you haven’t quite seen before.
It’s the thread of a door.
Every single day of Holy Week has a door in it. A door blocked by religion. A door standing wide open that someone can’t quite walk through. A door closed by betrayal. A door marked with blood. A door torn from top to bottom by the hand of God. A door sealed with a Roman stamp and guarded by soldiers. And finally - a door that the risen Christ walks straight through, because nothing in heaven or earth can hold him back.
Starting this Monday, I’m releasing a daily devotional for each day of Holy Week - right through to Easter Sunday. Each one is around five minutes, built around a less-familiar piece of Scripture, a fresh angle on a story you thought you knew, and a honest question to carry through your day.
You can watch on YouTube, listen on your favourite podcast app, or read the written version right here on Substack.
Whether you’ve followed Jesus for decades or you’re simply curious about what Easter is actually about - this series is for you.
The door is open. I’ll see you tomorrow.
- Rob
